The First Week
If you are off work for up to one week (this includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays) you don't need a sick/fit note from the practice. All you need to do is self certify with your employer.
After The First Week
If you're still ill after the seven days, the clinician will need to assess your fitness for work, so you will need to contact the practice for an appointment before acquiring a sick/fit note.
After the first Sick/Fit Note
After the first sick/fit note you might be well enough to go back to work, at which point your employer may require another sick/fit note stating you're fit for work or require a phased return/amended duties.
If you're still unwell and cannot return to work, you will require another sick/fit note.
For either of the above, you can click here use our PATCHS system to request what you require, you don't need to phone the practice. Using PATCHS, click non clinical request and follow the instructions.
Charges
Fit notes are free if the employee has been ill for more than 7 days when they ask for one. The practice might charge a fee for duplicates or if the employee has been ill for 7 days or less.
